Trading and Merchandising
Above all, success rests on the judgment and know-how of experienced professionals who must serve their customers. The training and knowledge of our teams are keys to the effectiveness of Linq Commodities. It is our teams who establish the quantity, quality, price and timing of our supply chains and decide how best to minimize risk by hedging the company’s market position.
What makes a good commodity trader? As in all professions, talent and experience. A specific academic discipline is less important than affinity for the job. Indeed, employees at Linq Commodities come from a great variety of academic backgrounds. What they have in common is the ability to judge relative values and advantages in an environment where the only constant is change, and the pace of change moves quickly.
Activities include origination of commodities for export, market analysis, storage and transportation, risk management techniques and services and inventory control.
Accounting and Finance
Accounting positions give you an opportunity to learn about our business in a dynamic and decentralized working environment. While refining your accounting skills and adding value, you'll be exposed to international business and risk management.
Each business unit has its own department responsible for maintaining records and reporting results. As you learn the basics and grow within your department, you will be exposed to complex accounting issues related to commodity trading, including how to value transactions and report them in financial statements.
Activities include internal auditing, mark-to-market accounting, commodity derivatives and hedging strategies, learning practices used in international trade, analyzing business unit operating results, international consolidation accounting, corporate taxation and reporting and implementation of governmental reporting requirements.
Research and Analysis
Linq Commodities employs skilled individuals from a variety of backgrounds to provide forecasting, modeling and strategic policy development. We rely on our global research capability and commodity risk management systems to support our trading activities. Our commodity trading and risk management teams need your insight to stay a step ahead – to see the vision and define the potential risks. In addition to analyzing data, researchers must be aware of the market in general. Like traders, they suggest and identify trading opportunities. The researcher needs to realize when and how current conditions can be represented by historical information, often defining the effects of factors that are not part of a data series.
Linq Commodities has compiled decades of data on everything from commodity prices to weather patterns to global commodity supply and demand. We have been vigilant in keeping the information necessary to the success of our commodity supply chain. However, storing information in our data warehouse is only a first step. Interpreting and applying that information is where our research and analysis experts come in as part of the team that turns the vision into reality.
Activities include data mining and analysis, modeling and forecasting, trend projections, report writing and presentations and research of global market transactions.
Logistics and Transportation
Risk management would not be possible without logistics and transportation services. From arranging insurance to resolving contract disputes, an invaluable global network of logistics personnel manages the receipt and delivery of millions of tons of raw materials to customers throughout the world.
